Budburst is now in full swing at our vineyards, a lot later than previous years due to the cold weather we’ve had.
We predict the cooler temperatures we’ve been experiencing have put us about a month behind where we were this time last year, with the added worry of frost and the damage this could cause. Thankfully, the buds remained protected in their woolly bud stage through the recent frosts, so we have our fingers crossed that this won’t have affected us. After unexpected late frosts in France it has been reported that a third of their wine this year may have been lost. We hope we’ve seen the end of the frosts and have a long, warm Summer ahead to help the vines along.
