We are now in full swing preparing for harvest. Building works are almost complete, and now it’s down to the grapes to do their thing. Although there has been some brutal rain recently which has battered some of the grapes at this late stage, we are still hoping for a fantastic harvest. The fact that we’ve come out of our most difficult year in the vineyard so far and we’re still looking at glorious grapes is testament to Scott’s hard work and meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard; protecting against frosts, and doing everything he can to prevent mildew and disease; problems which have affected so many Kent vineyards, this year in particular. Every few days, we are testing the acidity and sugar levels in the grapes to determine the time at which these levels will meet the perfect balance required to make exceptional English sparkling wine.
