Thank You For Getting Through 2020 With Us

Thank You For Getting Through 2020 With Us

Let us start off by saying we can’t thank our customers enough for so overwhelmingly supporting us as a local business over the past few months. Like everyone, we have encountered very strange, worrying and disconcerting times this year, but we have been keeping ourselves busy. It has been fantastic to glean from you all that now, more than ever, you like to know where the products you buy have come from. Being able to trace the journey of our drinks from start to finish is something that is really important to you, and there is a real sense of pride in knowing that everything we make is inspired by the fields around us, and made right here on your doorstep. It is for these reasons that it was important to us to expand our range of drinks to fuel local residents through the Covid-19 lockdown, and beyond.

The beginning of lockdown coincided with our very first vintage of English Sparkling Wine being perfectly ready to pass from our home to yours. Keeping it local, the grapes are grown in our Wateringbury vineyard before being transported just a mile up the road to our winery at Brewers Hall for pressing, fermentation, clarification and aging. Our ‘White From Black 2018’ is receiving rave reviews, putting it in the mix with the most renowned English Sparkling Wines in the area.

We had previously sold our Marourde Spritz through bars and restaurants, but with lockdown closing the hospitality sector, we wanted to make these available directly to the public. Our locals made it clear that months of being shut in their own home, with no pubs or bars to visit, meant that the ‘pub’ had to move to their living room, and what better way to stock this pub than with drinks made right here from local ingredients. With this in mind, we decided to sell our Marourde and our English Sparkling Wine direct from our cellar door. To complete the Mereworth family, we turned our hand to creating ‘7 Mile’ Gin, an extremely smooth gin infused with botanicals inspired by the fields around Mereworth, as well as an IPA and a Kentish cider.

It has been great to see that the momentum of local support for our drinks has continued to grow, as the country starts to emerge from lockdown, and pubs and bars re-open. We are extremely proud that customers are still returning to us and appreciating the quality and satisfaction which comes with buying local.

So thank you! We look forward to bringing you much more in the years to come.
