The favourable weather forecast, as well as being great for us all to enjoy a chilled glass of fizz, is something we’ve really been waiting for in the vineyard.
It looks like the vines haven’t been affected by the frosts in early Spring, but now flowering is underway, it’s a vital time for temperatures to rise and for the rain to ease off. Some warm, dry weather will help the vines to pollinate, leading to seed development and fruit set – this is where a percentage of the flowers on the vine become berries, and we hope for these to grow into good-sized and well-ripened grapes.
